Loco Social in Grandview Serves All-Day Brunch and It’s CRAZY

by admin

This summer the folks behind Agave & Rye opened a new companion restaurant in Grandview called Loco Social. It’s attached to the neighborhood location of the taco joint, in the former Spagio Cellars space for those who remember!

Loco Social is part of the EPIC Brands restaurant group, which operates Agave & Rye locations around Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, and other states, plus Son of a Butcher Steakhouse in Liberty Township. They also operated bygone Columbus eateries such as de-NOVO bistro & bar downtown.

Their general branding and decor – and Loco Social fits the bill perfectly – is, in a word, BUSY. There’s a heavy preference on bright pinks and greens, walls are thoroughly covered in murals, lighting is big and dramatic, seating is eclectic, greenery fills every nook and cranny. It can be a lot to take in.

The menu, meanwhile, is every bit as frenetic, both in design and scope. Loco Social focuses on all-day brunch + tiki cocktails + pastries + bubble tea. It’s fun, yes, but also a lot to process.

Here’s the Lavender State of Mind with Prosecco, sweet vermouth, sparkling lemon soda, and lavender simple syrup. The rim is dusted with lavender-tinged sugar.

Next to that is the Morning After Bloody Mary, made simply with vodka, house Blood Mary mix, and “nibbles.”

And then the menu dives into acai bowls, salads, sandwiches, pancakes and French toast, biscuits, egg dishes, even a couple Agave & Rye classics.

This is the Aloha salmon bowl, pretty generously loaded with salmon, edamame, mushrooms, cucumbers, wasabi mayo, and much more. It was filling and nicely seasoned.

Or the beautifully plated Bring the Spicy on Baby benedict with andouille sausage, poached eggs, chile de arbol, cotija, and hollandaise on biscuits. Very well done, as far as benedicts go.

The birria hash may not be much to look at, but it’s interesting nonetheless. Slow-cooked birria is mixed with peppers, jalapeño, and a jalapeño bacon chutney on a hash muffin, served with two eggs cooked to order.

We stopped by to eyeball the eclectic mix of pastries and snag a bubble tea before we left. They also sell juices and have a full espresso bar.

Loco Social is a bit of trip, but we were surprised by the quality of the fare. It’s certainly worth checking out!

It’s open from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily.
