There’s always a lot happening in the Columbus restaurant world! Here’s the latest:

  • Quinn Fallon, owner of Little Rock Bar in Italian Village, announced that he’s sold the bar and it will be closing after Aug. 18. Fallon has run the neighborhood favorite for 11 years; he said he does have buyers for the bar who will make some adjustments but otherwise keep it running.
  • This weekend is last call for Pretentious Barrel House. The sour-focused brewery at 745 Taylor Ave. is closing on Sunday, Aug. 11.
  • The Los Angeles-based eatery Sweetgreen will open its first Columbus location next month at 700 N. High St. in the Short North. The chain, which started in 2007 and now features more than 230 locations nationwide, is known for its menu of seasonal salads, protein plates, warm bowls, and sides. An exact opening date hasn’t been announced yet.
  • The Kape Coffee pop-up found its latest home this week, inside the taproom at Wolf’s Ridge Brewing (159 E. Hickory St.) downtown! Its hours will be Wednesday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Resch’s Bakery has been in the news lately with the announcement that its adding a second location and moving its production to 150 N. Hamilton Rd. in Gahanna. The bakery has been a staple on East Livingston Avenue since 1912.
  • Basil Thai announced this week that it has returned for delivery service through DoorDash, based out of its former location at 460 S. Front St. in the Brewery District.
  • Speaking of that Brewery District address, Smash Buddies opened its first brick and mortar there this week. The smashburger-focused truck has been serving around Ohio for the past year.
  • Michelle Kozak, owner of Patisserie Lallier, announced a new pilot program for an indoor Grandview Heights Farmers Market, starting this October. Applications are now open for the market, which will run one Sunday a month, October to April, at Larson Middle School.
  • Weiland’s Market announced last week that it’s bringing back its popular Party in the Parking Lot on Saturday Aug. 24. The event features a grill-out, live music, local beers, kid’s activities, and more.
  • This Sunday, Aug. 11 is the next Sunday Fundays in Old Worthington. The theme is End of Summer Fair, with fair foods from local restaurants, games, live music, and more. Yours truly will be grilling hot dogs on the village green!
