Friday Food Bites: Hoof Hearted Kitchen closes, Three Bites and Little Cat open downtown

by admin

There’s always a lot happening in the Columbus restaurant world! Here’s the latest:

  • Last week Hoof Hearted Brewery & Kitchen in Italian Village closed its doors. The brewpub had been open since 2018. It was a partnership between Marengo-based Hoof Hearted Brewing and A&R Creative Group, which operates restaurants like Ethyl & Tank and Fourth Street Taproom & Kitchen (and formerly The Crest). The two entities have been in a legal dispute about the business and its name. The brewery recently opened its own bar at 25 E. Fifth Ave. in the Short North.
  • Three Bites Bakery and Little Cat Boba soft opened in their new space at 12 E. Broad St. downtown. Three Bites moved there from its original King-Lincoln home, joining up with Little Cat, which has a stall in the East Market. A grand opening is scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 28. The two are part of a program to bring small businesses to Broad and High streets, including Black Kahawa Coffee next door.
  • Two Tigers Coffee also soft opened its new storefront at 3341 N. High St. in Clintonville. It had been operating as a mobile espresso bar before settling into its first brick and mortar. The space, located in the same stretch as Whit’s and Dough Mama, is perhaps the smallest coffee shop in Columbus. Click here to read the full story on it!
  • The Daily Growler shared on social media that it will be closing its Powell location after this Sunday, Aug. 25. The store, which has been open for 10 years, is located at 285 W. Olentangy St.
  • The food cart FoxFire Tacos announced last week that it has closed down.
  • Bistrolino in German Village announced that it will close after business on Friday, Aug. 23. On social media the Italian/Lebanese restaurant, located at 495 S. Fourth St., cited issues with their landlord and their lease, while also teasing a new high end sports bar and lounge coming to Gay Street downtown.

More fun events this weekend!

  • Parable Cafe is doing a casual Fry-Day pop-up from 7-10 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 23, featuring items like French fries, fried chicken, fried olives, and more.
  • Echo Spirits hosts its annual Sandbar tiki pop-up on Saturday, Aug. 24, with tiki cocktails, Hawaiian-inspired food trucks, and the release of a special toasted coconut rum.
  • Weiland’s Market brings back its Party in the Parking Lot this Saturday, Aug. 24 with grilled food, local beer, kid’s activities, live music, and more.
  • The Bincho Boys pop-up returns on Monday, Aug. 26 starting at 5 p.m. at Parsons North Brewing.
  • In case you missed it, Diners, Drive-Ins, & Dives paid a visit to Katalina’s in an episode that aired last week. More local spots like Wario’s and Joya’s are set to be featured soon as well!
