There’s always a lot happening in the Columbus restaurant world! Here’s the latest:
- It’s the end of an era this weekend as Paul’s Fifth Avenue closes after 58 years in business. Their last day is set for Sunday, July 7. Paul’s has been open since 1966, and has been located at its current spot (1565 W. Fifth Ave.) since 1979.
- Royal Flamingo Coffee opens their new shop today inside I Like It Like That cocktail bar. It’s a terrific new spot for both approachable and adventures coffees. Read my full story here!
- It’s a busy weekend for coffee! Honey Cup Coffee also debuts its new coffee shop at 2489 Summit St. in SoHud on Friday, July 5. After starting as a trailer in 2021, Honey Cup set up inside Rambling House for a while before leaving in the spring.
- Just a few doors up from Honey Cup, Zhu Shi Fu BBQ recently debuted at 2515 Summit St. (in the former Baba’s space). Zhu Shi Fu serves a variety of meats, veggies, and other items grilled and skewered.
- Cameron Mitchell Restaurants is opening their newest restaurant, the lavish Butcher & Rose steakhouse, at 155 E. Broad St. downtown in the remodeled Preston Centre. It will debut on Saturday, July 6.
- Also opening that day is Caffe Pelino, an Italian-style breakfast and coffee shop from the owners of Pelino’s Pasta and Piazza Pelino. The Pelinos’ pasta joint sits in Victorian Village, while their Italian sandwich and gelato shop debuted in the old Piece of Cake space last December. This third foray, Caffe Pelino, inhabits the former Tasi Cafe at 680 N. Pearl St.
- Echo Spirits Distilling announced that Tikka Truck 614 has set up permanently outside its cocktail bar, serving Indian fare Wednesday through Saturday evenings. It will overlap a bit with Red Rabbit Ramen, which reopens at Echo Spirits on July 12.
- Sofi’s Mini Donuts opened a kiosk this week inside Polaris Fashion Place. It can be found at the Grand Entrance space of the mall, on the upper level overlooking the Center Court.
- Get ready for a bite of nostalgia this Monday, July 8! For one night only, the legendary $1 grilled cheese from Bodega returns – but this time at Seventh Son Brewing. From $6-10 p.m. you can get grilled cheese sandwiches from Sang Lakhani and Collin Castore, original founders of Bodega, all in support of service industry workers through Service Relief Kitchen.
