I sometimes joke that I could have named my site Thanksgiving Dinner With Nick. I love a traditional Thanksgiving lineup: turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, green bean casserole, sweet potatoes, pies, you name it.
The one thing I love even more is the delivery of said dishes in alternative formats. So here are three ways you can get your Thanksgiving fix in non-traditional ways.
One of my favorite weekends of the year is the weekend before Thanksgiving. For only two days Kolache Republic makes a special Thanksgiving kolache. They take the lightly sweetened dough from their traditional Czech pastries and wrap it around roasted turkey, stuffing, and mashed potatoes, then serve it with sides of gravy and cranberry sauce. The best part: it’s all made from scratch. Definitely pre-order, because they only make a limited amount!

Our favorite hot dog place in Columbus also sets its sights on Thanksgiving every November. They take one of their hot dogs on a poppyseed bun and top it with turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, green onions, and a little gravy.

Mikey’s is known for their over-the-top pizzas of the week, and this time of year they bring by The Gobbler. It’s layered with smoked turkey from Ray Ray’s, a house-made stuffing, gravy, and an optional side of cranberry sauce. They usually run this one for a couple weeks; for 2024 you can get it through December 1.
